Just got word from CHOC. Looks like 30 mins thereabouts until we start transport to CHOC. Keep praying.
One of us will ride along with Demps, the ther will drive the van.
Pray for safety. My heart cannot take more stress.
May the Lord be glorified in every aspect of this awful journey.
Biggest Need
MONEY
It is endearing. It is powerful. It is helpful. It is necessary. It is provision. It is humbling. It is impactful. It is peace-providing.

The Journey | Beginning
Good Friday, I picked Dempsey up feom preschool. He was happy. Before we got home he was crying because of ear pain.
I called and got a same day appointment with his pediatrician.
He was given a prescription for amoxicilin to address and ear infection.
One week later the fevers had not stopped, the ear pain hadn't diminished, he was not improving.
March 31st I took him back to his pediatrician because we needed a stronger antibiotic. We were given a prescription for Cefdinir.
Gave him his first dose that night. A slight rash on his stomach Friday morning. Didn't think much of it. Gave him a second dose Friday night. Saturday the rash was over 3/4 of his body. Discontinued Cefdinir on recommendation of after hours nurse.
Sunday (today) decided to go to urgent care for a different antibiotic.
Due to the swelling of Dempsey's left part of his neck, we were sent to the ER for a CT scan to rule out mastoiditis.
The ER ran MANY blood tests and the pediatric doctor here did a thorough (and painful) check of Dempsey's lymph nodes- which were all swollen.
Hours and hours of medical attention and waiting...
Some tests started coming back. Not good news.
They showed his platelet hemoglobin levels are dangerously low. So, now we need a specialist. It looks like CHOC is where we will be going.
My baby needs a transfusion. I cannot even believe this is his reality right now. :-(
The spectrum of possible causes for his current condition is vast. It ranges from a strong virus to a number of cancers. Trying so hard not to worry but it's hard! My baby is very sick.
It is awful for Jake and I sit here and watching our baby look so pitiful and on the potential brink of greater illness.
We've been told he will probably need a bone marrow biopsy and a lymph node biopsy from near his left tonsil.
Please pray for our baby!! Humans are so limited in understanding and ability but God is not!! It is our hope to be real, honest, and glorify God through all of this.

Funny Phrase
"My brain is funny."
This is what he said while playing Chutes & Ladders. I spun a 6 and moved my character without counting each individual space. He just couldn't wrap his mind around that. Hahaha

Dishes
Dempsey: I actually put the dishes in the sink. That's not right. *giggles*
In the photo he's picking out his dessert, a bit of Valentine's Day plunder.

Joke a la Dempsey
Q: what did the door knob say to the fireplace?
A: because you're 'fired'!
Yes, that was the WHOLE joke.
Sawyer said, "Hey, that actually kinda makes sense."
I asked Dempsey, "Did you hear that somewhere or did you make it up in your brain?" He answered, "I made it in my brain."
Clearly he is learning from Sawyer. Such fun!

Birds and Bees
Jake and I ordered these books (pictured) to give them a look-see. Other family members recommended this series, so on their referral we decided to start the process of researching resources.
We want to discuss the birds and the bees with at least Sawyer, and maybe Dempsey. There is a lot of information that "could" be shared so we want to make sure we have our tool box full of appropriate and thorough information.
Jake and I will look through these books and see if they will work for our family. Jake and I will also discuss how we want to go about discussing this sensitive and beautiful topic with our boy(s).
